  1. This is so good see. I love Ikea furniture and their pricing is very reasonable. I will definitely be purchasing a set. Hopefully, they will sell changeable Klippan slipcovers too. :)

    1. I like your idea. Since I bought a couple of sets (mainly for the shelves) I was playing with the idea of unpicking one of the slipcovers to create a pattern to sew one in a different color.

On second thought, bit ambitious for my skill level, but the idea might fly with more talented sewers. :D

    2. Dye it and decorate it with fabric paint!

    3. Does IKEA really make this doll furniture? What about all the little accessories where did you get all of that? This 'room' looks fabulous.

    4. SMitch - I love your idea of altering the slipcover with dye, but the challenge would be to make sure it is colorfast. Those FR gals are too expensive to risk staining. I wonder if I should rethink my idea of unpicking one and creating a pattern... hmmmm...

Sam W. - Thanks for your kind comments and, yes, IKEA sells this furniture. You'll find it in the kid section. The accessories were found on auction sites and retail stores (manufacturers include Re-ment, Integrity, Randal Graig, Sindy and Mattel, to name a few). My collection has been built over a span of many years so it’s difficult to recite a comprehensive list, but if there are specific items that interest you please let me know - I would be delighted to assist you.

  2. I'm suprised that Harper was willing to shine the spotlight on somebody else! I'll have to make plans to pick up this set at Ikea in August, it's actually modern looking and not the sicky-inky Mattel pink that's everywhere.

    1. Harper only shares if she’s in charge, have you noticed? LOL

I wish IKEA had made the slip cover in a neutral shade, but I do like this shade of pink with the black and cream striped carpet.

  4. Awesome! I like the heart pillow and pink couch. Have you seen the Stingers from the Jem and the Holograms line from Integrity? They're due out in September and the best ones from the Jem line yet! (IMHO) I must have Riot!

    2. Aaaaaaahahaha! That's a riot! I have to have him, too, and am happily confirmed for a pre-order. I'm cutting his hair, though.

      Delete
    3. I'm going to straighten his hair first and see how long it is. I'm going to make him my new Skwisgaar. He's *supposed* to be taller than his daughters and that's hard when he's currently Fashionista and his daughters are Fashion Royalty. It's a dumb thing to get worked up over, but it drives me nuts! I'll have to keep an eye out for a party pad so I can have a cool staircase like that.

    4. It seems a small thing to ask that we determine the height of our characters, so glad Riot came along to fit the bill. Your current Skwisgarr is a re-rooted Disney's John Smith, right? I love that re-root! But I like your idea of straightening Riot's hair. Maybe I'll give that a shot before I get scissor happy. Don't you love his sculpt?!!!

      Delete
    5. That's right! He was wrongly advertised as a Ken, but I got him and rerooted him. I was going to re-reroot him with proper synthetic hair, but the height thing just bugged me to death. General fanon places Skwisgaar around 6'9" Skal and Nicolette would be about 6'5", so it's fine that they tower over most of the other men, but they're supposed to be shorter than their dad.

I've had pretty good luck with character height - the G.I. Joe body I got for Charles ended up shorter than everyone else, even his wives, but Charles is supposed to be short, so that worked. The obitsu body I got for Dixie lacked feet, so I slid her stumps into a pair of cowboy boots and that put her shorter than hubby Will, like she's supposed to be. And I used a Disney V.I.P. Alex Russo doll for my super-shortie, Gytha.

One of the things I love about the Monster High dolls are the variations in molds and bodies. Cleo's sister Nefera towers over every other doll, Clawdeen's little sister Howleen is noticably shorter and they just released a new doll named Twyla - even though she's the same age as the main characters, she's Howleen's size.

Sorry to ramble, but I just have this thing about every character having the same bodytype.

    6. Lots of doll folks, particular those who infuse their dolls with characters and names, share your frustration at the general availability of only one body type. Tonner came out with a full-figured gal a few years ago and I loved that but, again, don’t collect 16" Tonner. Mattel has given us some different body types but they lack articulation and clothing options. So the frustration, ramblings and rants continue...

But, happily, we are both anticipating the arrival of Riot! Please can I say it again without anyone rolling their eyes...? He looks like a riot! ha-ha!

      I am so lame sometimes.

  5. Your room is beyond fabulous. Adding the legs makes a huge difference. Personally, I prefer sofa backs to be higher, so the sofa is still too small for me. The shelves are really cute. I will probably buy a eet and use it for the kids or college students.

    1. I agree about the sofa back being too small, but I was thinking along the same lines as you and was going for the shelves. They'll be perfect for your college students. :)

  6. Thanks for the story and the info. I love the room. Does IKEA release these sets every year?

    1. This is only the second set I've seen IKEA make. The earlier sets came in different colors and the dining room table makes a perfect 1:6 side table. You can see a pair of them in Harper's demo (on both sides of the sofa).

  7. PUFF! Is right! Love what you have done with it! No offense, but... yippee!! Since they are small they must be just right for 1:12 folks! LOL

    Oh...hi Harper...:-/ hehehehe

  8. Thank you! I was thinking about picking this up myself. I like your solution for fixing the height problem! Did you actually get this for Harper or is she just assuming again? ;)

    1. She’s assuming.

Oh crap... she just slammed her bin lid...

  9. Yay, Harper is back! Now I see what she's been working on in her absence. Love her IKEA living room. So clever and bright and Harper-ish. Cute hugging heart pillow and whiskered cat pillows. And that sign about "Live What You Love" - right on, Harper.

Do thank Temperly, too, for her appearance. Nice to see a Fashion Royalty gal getting along with a Barbie brand ;-)

    1. Thanks, Cindi. I purchased my white chairs last year from an online retailer... give me a few days to track the info down for you, they were the best price I've come across. The spiral staircase is from the My Scene Party Pad.

  15. Harper, You rule the internet ... but you better watch Temperly closely. She is becoming quite a fashionista in a very short time. Have you seen the movie Showgirls? Don't walk down any stairs in front of her.

    Love ya! Chaundra and friends.

    1. Harper laughed mirthfully. She gets your point but said perhaps Temperly should not walk down the stairs before her.

She sends her best to Chaundra.

    2. LOL! I love Ms. Harper. Chaundra is wondering how this "Poof" magic works and if she can some of that over here. It doesn't seem like anything happens in the diorama department. I promised her a trip to IKEA next weekend.

    3. Hold on tight to your credit card. I can almost guarantee Chaundra is going to demand multiple sets of the IKEA living room. She’ll be wanting extra EXPEDIT shelves.

I hope to see Chaundra post photos of her room once she figures out the poof magic (which, basically, is you. hee hee...)

    1. I appreciate your honest opinion. It’s interesting to know who likes or doesn't like a particular item and why. I can see why these would remind you of the indestructible toys we played with as toddlers.

I like the clean lines on this set. Harper’s setting is youthful, but with some glossy editing it could take on a more adult, sophisticated vibe. I just wish IKEA had done a better job on the scale.

  20. I am buying it for my 1:6 scale gals as well. Love what you have done to make it work for that size! I am so inspired, I had a trip planned next week anyhow. I am buying two sets, mostly for the EXPEDIT shelves. Also, I love Temperly's blazer, where is it from? I still regret not buying that Stardoll set for the floral top. I own the other two packs, but not this one.
