Updating Norma Desmond

Early November IT announced they were releasing a Norma Desmond / Sunset Boulevard Commemorative Doll.

Commemorative dolls are not my thing but I love the Giselle sculpt and the Nu.Face body so much that I happily placed an order. Then IT announced the doll would not be coming on a Nu.Face body after all, but rather a BOD body.

Dang! Would I have the additional expense of rebodying this girl?

I adopted a wait-and-see attitude and am happy to report that once out of her period costume and with her hair softened she is a winner. imho. And she is rocking that BOD body!

    1. I so wish you could, Cindi. Wouldn’t it be grand fun to have a dolly play date!

  2. BOD bodies are my second favorite Integrity bodies (first place is Dynamite Girls). I just love how voluptuous they are! She is a pretty girl and that sweater she is wearing is to die for!

    1. Thanks, Tabitha. She does seem to fill out a sweater nicely. lol

I understand why you prefer the DG body. I really like the height of them. It took me years to get on board with tall girls and my fav body is Nu.Face, which is almost identical to DG other than height and knees. Coming in second for me, neck-in-neck, is BOD and Monogram. I am not a fan of wispy waisted FR bodies.

    1. I wasn’t sure at first either. But I figured if I could get a Giselle (and Nu.Face body, I thought) at retail price rather than inflated secondary market prices. it would compensate for not liking her fashion and plastic shoes. I’m glad I did because she has lived up to expectations, plus I like her jewelry accessories.

  4. *lets out a long, low whistle* She sure turned into a fox, didn't she? I already liked her, but seeing her in this outfit, with her hair down... wow!

    1. So jazzed you like her restyled, Crystal. To me she didn’t look enough like Norma Desmond to keep in costume so I knew she would end up redressed. I love that she took on a current vibe easily.

  5. She looks so much better with your restyling! :)
(I'm also really partial to the Giselle sculpt)

    1. Thanks so much, Erica. I’m also partial to Giselle’s sculpt and what I found interesting with this gal is that IT didn’t follow the tapered corner of the mouth when applying lip color. The result is she looks less sulky than most Giselles. I wasn’t sure about that at first but since I have another Giselle coming with a full-on huff, I decided this little make-up trick was an acceptable change-up.

    2. You're welcome! You've really taken her and made her "modern".
(Can I say that I live in envy of your ability to put together lovely fashion ensembles that automatically seem to suit your girls??!)

I agree that the way they applied the facial screening to the mouth does change the "mood" of the Giselle sculpt (a nice change) and it was one of the things I first noticed when I saw the promo pic.

  6. I'm not a big fan of the Giselle sculpt, but as usual, you do wonders on your restyling. She looks great in that outfit and jewelry.

  7. Desi has mad attitude! You think it is because of her banging body and rocking sweater? Me too! LOL

    1. She’s a cool one… she arrived, immediately found a place to live, then took her pick from the clothing bin. Her next step is to beguile a boyfriend. She figures the way she fills out that sweater will be a promise of happiness.

    1. Double-D Dixie with the red hair? A BOD might work but have you considered 1:6 Obitsu/Dollfie with large soft bust?

  13. I've actually thought of using a CY Girl body, but I keep getting sidetracked. My latest diversion is Makai, a professional hula dancer with two boyfriends. So now I have to pony up a couple of stud-puppies.

    1. I saw Makai - thought she looked very sweet. Who would have thought she was a handful!!! lol

Perhaps, then, a Phican for Dixie?

I highly recommend your deviantart page. Well worth a visit. Gotta go add you to my links page.

    2. They're all pretty demanding until they get their friends and family established. Luckily I wandered through the toy aisle and saw the new Ryan Fashionista - he needs glasses at the very least, but he'll make a good Donnie.

I'm so flattered that you're adding me to your links!

    3. You’re welcome. I think people who haven’t had the pleasure of visiting your site yet will be delighted by your artistry.

You have a point; the dollies do seem to calm down once they have their needs taken care of. Doll guardians carry much responsibility! *chuckle*

Oh, yes, glasses! I love specs.
